When Life Gets Tough: Trust God, Keep Going, and Ask for What You Need 💛

Life isn’t always smooth sailing, is it? Some days, it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, and others, the sun shines a little brighter. Both are part of the journey, and it’s okay if we don’t have it all together all the time.

How are you doing today? If you’re feeling a little heavy or if things aren’t going the way you’d hoped, know that you are not alone. We all go through seasons where we feel lost, unsure, or overwhelmed. And that’s okay—it’s part of being human. But here’s the good news: Even in the tough moments, we can trust God and ask Him for what we need.

I’ve been there too. Recently, I found myself at a crossroads with a couple projects and book, wondering how to juggle it all—especially since so much time and effort goes into writing, creating, getting things done, and staying consistent. It’s easy to feel like I'm constantly running behind, and sometimes the work doesn’t always come together as easily as I’d like. But despite the challenges, I’m staying committed to doing this work with integrity and seeking to honor God's will in it all.

And here’s the thing: God always shows up, even when we’re unsure. After weeks of prayer and uncertainty, I went to my email inbox one evening this week and found three very sweet messages from readers saying how excited they were for my next book. (You know who you are—thank you, from the bottom of my heart!) I won’t lie, reading those messages brought tears to my eyes. It was as if God was speaking directly to me, reminding me that I’m on the right path. That moment was a beautiful confirmation—a little nudge from Him saying, "Keep going." And you can bet God was in this.

Ask for What You Need

In these tough moments, we can forget to ask for what we truly need. Sometimes it’s simply supportive people, loving friendships, clarity, guidance, or even peace in our hearts. It’s so important to ask God for what we need. He delights in being close to Him, and one way to do that is to express to Him, and He is always present, even when we feel unsure.

One way I’ve found to keep my faith strong in these times is by reading Scriptures that I’m guided to as well as reminding us through it of God’s goodness. Maybe you could try this too? Take a moment and write out a couple of verses that remind you of His goodness and His promises. You can carry them with you, tucked in your journal or on an index card with a little washi tape for a sweet touch. Or, if you’d like, you can grab my encouragemtn Scripture cards to help guide you on your journey. Find them in my store below!

Here are a couple of verses that have been really powerful for me:

  • Isaiah 41:10: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

  • Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  • Psalm 34:4 - “I sought the Lord and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”

Let’s commit to memorizing at least one or two —take them with you wherever you go. It’s amazing how powerful the Word of God is when we make it a part of our daily routine. And no matter what happens, we can trust that we are not alone.

Do Something for Someone Else

When life gets overwhelming, it’s easy to become consumed with our own struggles. But sometimes, the best way to find peace in the chaos is to reach out to others. Do something sweet for someone else. It could be a simple note of encouragement, a kind word, or even a small act of service. You never know how much it might mean to someone else, and it can help shift your focus away from your own worries.

Gratitude is a game changer. It helps us refocus on the good things in our lives. In these tough seasons, it’s important to remember the small joys—those moments that make all the difference—and thank God for them.

Keep the Faith, Keep Praying, Keep Trusting

Sometimes it feels like the answers are slow to come, or that God is quiet in the midst of our struggles. But even when we don’t hear Him right away, He’s still there, walking with us through every moment. Keep the faith. Keep praying. And keep trusting. He is present with you, even in the quiet. His love never falters, and He will never leave you.

With love and prayers

As you walk through your own journey, remember that God’s love never falters, and He is with you through every moment—whether it's calm or stormy. Trust Him, ask for what you need, and know that you are never alone. He's with you every step of the way. 💛 In my prayers always.
